NETZER SUMMER CAMP
With Summer Holidays fast approaching, one’s mind begins to fill with
the sights, sounds and tastes of summer. For many people, this involves
relaxing on the beach or by the pool with a cold drink in hand, catching
up on good books, seeing movies and spending time with friends.
I myself picture this, but in a slightly different way. I see myself out in
the sun, playing sports, swimming and hiking. I see myself catching up
on a number of texts and exploring ideas to their fullest degree through
discussion, creative activity and excited debate. I see myself watching
films that make me think, laugh and cry. And I see myself doing these
things with friends; around 175 of them.
It’s not that I’m insanely popular. I’m just lucky. For the past 13 Summers of my life, I’ve had
the chance to do all of these things and more at Netzer Machane. Even beyond this list, I’ve
found myself challenging, celebrating and embracing my Judaism, exploring my Zionism and
strengthening my bond with Israel, its culture, history and politics. I have found myself
empowered by youth, achieving things that I never thought I could before and being part of an
incredible, alternative community that caters to my needs as a young progressive Zionist and as a
human being committed to social justice and change. Most importantly, however, I have had
incredible FUN!
My experiences most certainly do not exist in isolation. In fact, its so easy to be part of them,
which is why Netzer Australia is proud to present:
