PRESIDENT’S PIECE
I write this on a bright and sunny morning – it’s springtime here in Hobart, looking out on a mass
of golden daffodils (I should think that Wordsworth would have had excellent inspiration here for
that poem!)   It all looks so peaceful and beautiful and I feel very lucky to be here.   Oh, that the
rest of the world could be so fortunate!   It must be the time of the year - the old one just about
over, the High Holy Days just about here - that makes me so reflective and appreciative of the
good things in life.   Yes, there are dark and gloomy clouds on the horizon: the world remembers
the horror of three years ago in New York and the continuing terror in Israel and the Middle East,
in Sudan and elsewhere.   But, I’m a naturally positive person and there’s a “lot of good out there”
too!  People helping other people in all sorts of different ways.   Let’s remember, especially at this
time of the year, that all our good deeds can and do make a difference, to our family and friends
and further afield (Tzedakah [charity]).    And, we’ve been hearing a lot lately about “taking care
of our environment”.   If we all make a positive commitment to recycle and re-use whatever we
can in our daily lives, we can make a real difference to our world.
Thank You”, Roz and all our contributors, for making this Chaverim such a great read!
