involvement with it. So it was a desire to find out something about myself that prompted my search. From
then on, my increasing interest and involvement was to do with an identity shift.
Anyone who knows me well will know that since I was about 12, I have been very involved in sport,
especially rowing. For 6 years it has been a passion, and a huge part of my life. For a long time it was also
a huge part of how I identified myself. I think I started to feel that identifying myself as an athlete wasnt

of being Jewish that made me decide I wanted to celebrate my bat mitzvah. I feel like this is the first step
in my becoming like Miriam, offering to my community water from the well of Torah, and at the same time
taking on the public role that it is my destiny as a Jewish woman to do.

I would like to thank everyone for all the support and that everyone has given me, and also to
thank everyone who came on the day to share such a wonderful experience, that has changed
my life."
