It is with great pride that we report our first fund-raising venture … a JNF Certificate to commemorate the planting
of 18 trees in Israel in honour of Tasmania’s Mary Donaldson who became Crown Princess Mary on her marriage to
Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark
18 JNF TREES IN ISRAEL IN MARY’S HONOUR
The Jewish National Fund will plant 18 trees in Israel in honour of Mary Donaldson, the Tasmanian Lawyer who
will wed Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark on Friday. Fellow Tasmanian Carol Samuelson will present a JNF
certificate to representatives of the royal family this week while she is in Copenhagen to perform with the Tasmania-
based Derwent Valley Concert Band. Donated the by National Council of Jewish Women’s Tasmanian chapter, the
18 trees will bear a plaque with Mary’s name on it. “The trees are being planted by the NCJW in honour of the
wedding,” said Len Mahemoff, the JNF’s federal bequests director, adding that the number 18 corresponds to the
Hebrew word “chai” meaning life. The JNF hoped Carol could make the presentation at the official dinner the
night before the wedding.
NEW TREE CERTIFICATES
We now have tree certificates for many occasions. If you have a birth in the family, wish to send one to a friend for
a special occasion [birthday, anniversary, bar- and bat-mitzvahs,etc.] there’s a special one “to fit the occasion”.
Also for Yahrzeits [Yizkor Certificate] and another one is a very special Certificate for Weddings. If you require a
tree certificate for any occasion, please ring Caroline Heard on (03) 6239 1590 and she will be able to advise you
of what is available
