A note from Mhoira Lauer-Patterson
We are all indebted to Mhoira for making our new bimah and lectern covers. She
writes:
A big thank you to all my friends in the Hobart Hebrew Congregation through you Caroline
for the cheque you sent me in reimbursment for the expenses on the shulhan cover, etc.
I thank you for your lovely words too. Being with you all for those precious few months
was a wonderful experience, one which I will never forget and one which I will renew when
I am visiting Hobart from time to time.
You have something there with you now from my heart and it is a nice feeling for me. I
look forward to receiving a photo of the whole refurbished interior when the new carpet is
laid. It is so different to Temple Beth Israel around the corner from me here that the
contrast is breathtaking. I now have one friend in our congregation here, Rena. At
kiddush we always catch up with our news as I am only able to attend every second
shabbat now due to other commitments.
I am in the middle of a real estate course currently and hopefully upon passing the rest of
my exams in this I will receive what I refer to as a 'magic' certificate. It is 'magic' as it
opens doors into employment so that I can at long last be actively working and earning
money again. My main goal is that within the next year to be able to buy a townhouse or
apartment within the sphere of TBI or another of the many shuls in this part of greater
Melbourne.
But first things first. One must be able to walk before running. Once again many thanks
Aleichem Shabbat Shalom

NCJW/JNF NEW TREE CERTIFICATES
We now have tree certificates for many occasions. If you have a birth in the family or friends there is
a special one for that occasion. Also for Bar & Bat-Mitzvah and Yahrzeit occasions. If you require
a tree certificate for any occasion please ring Caroline Heard -
6239 1590 and she will be advise
you of what is available.
Singing
Were not too bad - we could be a lot better!
Is there anyone in our congregation who
likes a challenge? The challenge is to get
us sounding like a choir instead of separate
voices doing our own thing! It would be
great if we could meet regularly to learn our
songs/tunes and to sing with one voice.
Cmon, your congregation needs you !
A big, big thank you to Pam Marks-
John for hosting our 2005 Purim
party at her home at Eaglehawk
Neck.
Although we have no photos of the
event, we can assure you that in the
tradition of all our pot luck functions,
a good time was had by all!
