CHOIR ……
From small beginnings.....
OK … we did very very well after a few practice sessions prior to our May Commemorative Service.   I hope
that you, like me, enjoyed the sessions and that you will want to continue them, so that we grow in
confidence with our singing in shul.   In addition, we will have the opportunity to learn new tunes, melodies,
etc.
Our brief time spent with Judy Campbell, Music Director of Temple North Shore Temple Emanuel,
Chatswood/Sydney has convinced me that we are keen to not only improve our singing, but also to expand
our repertoire!
Firstly, we need a Co-Ordinator … this will merely entail setting a schedule of practice sessions and venue/s.
So, if you have the time and are willing to act as Choir Co-Ordinator, please let me know (

So keen am I to get this “off the ground” that I will set up the first couple of sessions myself … but I am
hopeful that someone “out there” will take over from me re: co-ordination of the Choir.
RED  HOT  NEWS!!!
A CONCERT
BY  LENKA  LICHTENBERG
THURSDAY 5th JANUARY 2006 – 7.30pm
HOBART’S HISTORIC SYNAGOGUE
59 Argyle Street, Hobart
For her one and only Australian appearance, the world renowned singer LENKA LICHTENBERG
will give a concert in our historic Hobart Shul.
Some of the comments about this remarkable singer re: her CDs Deep Inside and Open the Gate
are:  “Whether you are singing one of your own compositions or a traditional Jewish song, your
music is fresh, innovative and delightful.  To hear you is to want to hear more … (Barry Reisman,
Program Host WNWR AM 1540 Philadelphia)
A lively amalgam of musical styles from Middle Eastern and klezmer to jazz, Lichtenberg’s songs
are wonderfully entertaining showcases for her talent, which impressively crosses many different
genres.  She pulls each off beautifully, carefully adapting her voice … Lichtenberg reinvents
traditional times and invents new ones…”  (Lisa Cooperman, The National Post)
Ms Lichtenberg is an excellent singer … eminently listenable voice … polished musical
presentation overall … delightful instrumentations … songs come from the heart, deep, heartfelt
convictions … generally noble sentiments” …(Renaissance Man/Rainlore, UK)
Also, … “Lenka takes her listeners ‘to unique place’ and “Multi-talented singer offers audience
eclectic repertoire” (both from Cynthia Gasner CJN)
Lenka and her family will be in Hobart as the guests of Elinor Morrisby and has asked Lenka to
take time out of her holiday “Down Under” to sing for us.  Elinor has facilitated the concert …
“Thank You, Elinor”
Once again, I do urge you not to miss this “once in a lifetime” opportunity to hear Lenka
Lichtenberg sing in our historic Hobart shul
To our interstate readers … why not plan to be in Hobart at the start of January ? … and you too
can be “part of history” …!  See you there!
