A few words from the editor
Mazel Tov and congratulations on the appearance of the new High Holiday edition of ‘Chaverim’! For
such a small congregation it is a huge success to produce such a varied and interesting newsletter, with
so many contributions from members. Kol hakavod!
The star of this newsletter is Amelie. See photo where she looks very comfortable indeed amongst her
lady friends at a luncheon at Gloria Boughey’s earlier this year. Her interview follows this page.
The larger photo on this page was taken at the Steenbergens during the inspiring and uplifting weekend
with cantor Katie Oringel. It was such a satisfying combination of spirit and sound for the soul.
Talking about inspiring, the
Yom HaSho’ah service,
organised by Tom
Schlesinger and Clare and
Susan Steenbergen was a
great success, very well
attended with moving and
powerful presentations, the
most memorable of which
was Clare’s story of her
childhood in Holland.
