Minutes of Meeting, 27th June, 1950
held at the Board Room of the Synagogue at 8 p.m.


PRESENT 
Mrs. C. Frank, Messrs. C. Epstein, H. Jacob, E. Hayes, N. Seidel, F. Fixel

MINUTES prev meeting
Minutes of meeting, held 22nd Dec 1949 were read and signed by the Chairman (Mr. C. Epstein) as a correct record.

E.C.A.J. 
Reports from Mr. Van Rooyen on meeting of E.C.A.J. was read.  It is to be specially noted that subsidy was given for one year only, and that new application for any further period is required.

Resolved to approach Mr. Van Rooyen to act as permanent liason officer with the E.C.A.J. whilst in Sydney, and in general to act as liason officer with other organisations, like Welfare Society.  A vote of thanks to Mr. Van Rooyen for his activities was passed and Secretary instructed to write accordingly.

Letter rec. from Congregational Committee with Cheque for £120 advising that the balance of £120 plus a further £20 whiuch are a donation from one of the Congregation, should be forthcoming shortly.

Resolved That important parts of minutes of annual conference of E.C.A.J. be read at the next Board Meeting.

CORRESPONDENCE
A letter received from Mr. Coronel was tabled, and Mr. Epstein undertook to reply to him.

Letter received from Rabbi Goldman, Melbourne regarding the old cemetery, and the President undertakes to attend to same.

Bequest by Mr. Mendes
Letter received from Messrs. Simpson & Simpson Solicitors, Hobart, informing the Congregation that a Bequest of £50 (Fifty Pounds) was made by the late Mr. David Mendes.  It was resolved to inscribe the bequest in Gold Letters on the Bequest Board in Synagogue.

SALARY of Minister
Moved by Mr. H. Jacob that the Salary of the Rev. G.W. Ruben be increased.  The treasurer objected in view of the financial position of the Synagogue and as the subsidy was not granted for three years.  Decided to leave this matter for the Annual General Meeting.

Secretary
Subject to her consent Mrs. Fixel be appointed acting secretary of the Congregation until General Annual Meeting.

The meeting then closed.
