Minute of General Annual Meeting of The Hobart Hebrew Congregation Held on the Twenty Third October, 1950

PRESENT:
Mr. C. Epstein in the chair, Messrs. E. Jacob, Spiegel, Reiss, Newman, Siedel, Chase, H. Epstein, H. Jacob, Frank, Abrams, Rauner, Fixel, Mesdames Abrams, Frank, H. Jacob, E. Jacob, Rauner, Newman, Fixel

REPORT BY REV. RUBEN:
Rev. Ruben reported that children now received their tuition at their homes in small groups, and besides learning to read and write Hebrew they also learned about Jewish History and Customs.  There are special fortnightly assemblies at the Synagogue and special services are arranged for the children with songs and stories.  Special highlights during the year were -

Chanukah Service,
Purim,
Model Seder,
Succoth Party
Simchas Thora Party
Picnic at Beach

The report was accepted

MINUTES:
Minutes of the previous annual meeting were read and confirmed.  
Moved - Mr. Seidel
Seconded - Mr. Newman

PRESIDENT'S REPORT:
The President's Report as attached was adopted.  
Moved - Mr. H. Jacob
Seconded - Mr. Newman

MINISTER:
A length discussion took place and certain minor complains were made about he conduct of the service and representations are to be made to Rev. Ruben, expressing the disapproval of the Board in his apparent neglect to head the suggestions made to him by the Board, and requesting him in future to follow the requests made to him by the President.  There was general agreement on the question that on the whole Rev. Ruben is doing a good job here and the Mothers all expressed that the children had made remarkable progress in their lessons.  As to salary an increase was agreed.

BALANCE SHEET:
As the outgoing Treasurer was not present at the meeting, the balance sheet was circulated prior to the meeting.  The personal sentence in the balance sheet that the treasurer is not standing for re-election is to be deleted, otherwise it was passed.

CONTRIBUTIONS:
Contributions of each and any wager earner are to be £3. 3. 0., but the treasurer will use his personal influence with the individual members to see that they made adequate contributions.  

Meeting then closed.
