Minutes of Meeting, held Monday, 13th October, 1952 at the Boardroom of Synagogue
PRESENT: Mr. H.Jacob in Chair, Messrs Coronel. H.Epstein, Hayes, Kiffer, Rauner, Mrs. Fixel
MINUTES: The Minutes of meeting, held on 1st September, 1952 were passed and signed as true record by the Chairman.
Repair Synagogue:
Arising out of minutes discussions were held regarding repair work to be carried through at the Synagogue and For which certain funds had been received, Mr, Coronel
undertook to inspect the Synagogue to ascertain what work has to be carried through and will report to the next meeting.
BY-LAWS: A communication has been received from the E.C.A.J. indicating that endeavours are being made to arrange uniform By- Laws for the various Congregations, and on request By-Laws of the H.H.C. had been forwarded.
Moved by Mr. Jacob and seconded by Mr. Epstein that
Messrs.Coronel and Hayes should Work out framework of upto date By Laws.

CONDUCT of SERVICE: The Conduct of the High Holiday Services Was discussed
at great length. Mr. Jacob moved dismissal of Mr. Ruben in view of deviation from the instructions given by the Board.  In their letter of 15th January, 1951, regarding the conduct of Services. These deviations consisted in introducing into the Service innovations which are not
contained in the Singer Prayer Book. The Motion was seconded by Mr. Hayes but not carried by members

Mr. Coronel and Mr. Rauner undertook to discuss this matter with Mr. Ruben, Furthermore Mr, Rauner will in future discuss with Mr. Ruben beforehand the conduct of Holiday Services and other Special Services.

CORRESP. Various incoming correspondence from the E.C.A.J. was tabled which in particular a recent statistic on the Jewish population, which showed Victoria with 26,060 persons, N.S.W. 22,443, Tasmania 197, for the year 1952. The Statistic Was prepared by Mr De Val Davis who advised that he would visit Tasmania Shortly.

The Melbourne Hebrew Congregation had forwarded an invitation to attend the induction Service of Rabbi Dr. Rapaport and the President had sent a message of congratulation and apologies for non attendance.
