rs I. Hyams, D. Moses, R. Hart, S. Moses, Hyam Moses, A. Reuben, I. Friedman. Treasurer not present. Mr. P. Levy absent from Town.


The meeting was convened by the President Mr. Judah Solomon, having made application for his son Joseph Solomon and Elizabeth Davis, a daughter of Henry Davis deceased, to be married and the Committee having taken into consideration that the fathers of each of the parties for whom such application is made were Jews and that the parties had also been brought up in the Jewish Religion and the Committee called on the Reverend Morris Cohen to give his opinion to them on the subject.

The Revd Morris Cohen stated personally that before such marriage took place the parties could not be considered as members of the Jewish faith but that if they became a גר and a according to the laws of Moses and Israel after they were made, they might be united גר'ת together in marriage according to the Jewish Rites.
J. W. Cohen having been called on explained to the Committee the Ceremonies and mode adopted on such occasions.

It was resolved that Mr. Joseph Solomon and Miss Elizabeth Davis be married provided they conform to the Laws and Regulations laid down by our Rabbis, that is that he be made גר and she a גר'ת and that they go through the forms that the parties appointed by the Committee may point out, prior to their marriage.

It was resolved that Mess
rs Morris Cohen, Samuel Moses, Isaac Friedman, Philip Levy and Henry Jones be appointed to see the previous resolutions in reference to Mr. Josh Solomon & Miss Elizabeth Davis carried into effect.
