General Meeting Sunday 8th Nov 5624=1863
The President in the Chair.

The resignation of Mr Henry Jones containing his resignation as Reader was accepted by the meeting.

A report of the committee was brought up intimating that the necessary steps had been taken to procure another Reader from Melbourne. After some desultory discussion about the finances of the Congregation, pending the answer expected from Melbourne Mr B Vallentine moved and Mr Lazs Levy seconded that the gratuity of £50 recommended to be given to Mr Jones on his leaving this Colony be not confirmed at this meeting and that it be deferred and on the amendment made by Mr Mark Nathan seconded by Mr Laz Levy that the funds of the Congregation would not permit any such allowance was carried unanimously by the members present at the meeting.
