General Meeting of members held at Synagogue Chambers on Sunday 1st December 5628-1867.
President in the Chair.
Present Messrs L Levy, Hyams, Mendoza, J Harris, Rheuben, Davis, Cohen, Solomon, Nathan, Hart and Secretary.
Minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed.

A letter was then read from Mr Goldreich asking for leave to apply for a situation of reader and ??? in Ballarat. After a long and desultory discussion Mr Hart proposed and Mr Davis seconded, that Mr Goldreich’s request be acceded to. An amendment was then proposed by Mr Nathan and seconded by Mr Solomon that Mr Goldreich’s services be retained at a salary of £200 pro annum for a term of 3 years. The amendment being put, it was found that there were seven for and five against, the original proposition was consequently lost.

It was proposed by Mr Rheuben and seconded by Mr Hyams that an address from the Congregation be presented to H R H Prince Alfred. Carried.

Proposed by Mr Susman and seconded by Mr Nathan that Messrs P Levy, Solomon, Goldreich and the mover form a sub-committee to draw up the address and get it prepared for presentation.

Resolved that the Revd Mr Goldreich do present the address.
