Annual Meeting held in Vestry Room, Argyle Street on Sunday. Sept 23, 1910

Present: S Benjamin, President in the chair, M Epstein, B Harris , D.Nathan, N.H. Levi, Norman, Levi, R Benjamin, J Glasser and H Ansell, Hon Secretary.

The President said that before proceeding with the business of the meeting, he thought it was his duty to make special reference to the great loss they had sustained in the death of their late member, Mr Isaac Benjamin and after speaking in fondness of his high character and honest and conscientious Israelite and of the deceased gentleman’s many services to the welfare of the congregation, he moved that a letter of condolence be written to the widow expressing their deep sympathy to herself and family in their bereavement and their appreciation of constant efforts her late husband has made to further the interests of the community. Mr. M Epstein seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried.

The Chairman then made reference to the success that had attended the engagement of the Rev I Morris their Minister, Shochet, Mohel and Teacher to the fact that his ministration and services had won their complete satisfaction. Congratulations were then tendered to Mr Ansell by the members present and also by the President on the occasion of his birthday which fell upon that day and their united good wishes expressed. Mr Ansell suitably responded.

The minutes of the previous meeting were then read and confirmed.

The Hon Sec then presented the balance sheet showing in detail all receipts and expenditures for the past year and particulars of all the investments and assets of the Congregation. The same were passed and approved unanimously. Mr S. Benjamin was unanimously re-elected as President and Treasurer. Mr. H Ansell Hon Secretary for the ensuing year. The meeting rendered to them their thanks and cordial appreciation for past service.

The President moved and Mr M Epstein seconded that Mr Reuben Benjamin be appointed acting Secretary during the absence of Mr. H Ansell. Carried.

Mr S Benjamin moved, and Mr D Nathan seconded that Mssr N.H. Levi and Mr M Benjamin be appointed Committeemen to act with the President in the affairs of the Congregation. Carried.

Moved by Mr Norman Levi, seconded by Mr M Epstein that Mr J Glasser be appointed Acting Hon Collector for ensuing year. Carried.

Mr. R. Benjamin moved and Mr J Glasser seconded that a notice be posted at the entrance to the shool, respectfully requesting that members and visitors to keep strict silence whilst the Minister was chanting the service. Carried.

Moved by Mr Epstein and seconded by Mr H Ansell that the Mssr. D Nathan and N.H. Levi be appointed Chasan Torah and Bereishit respectively during the ensuing festival. Carried.
Mr Ansell suggested that voluntary contributions from members be then given toward the purchase of a shofar and a Magilla then in the possession of the Rev. I Morris and that they present them to the congregation.

The amount requested of 2. 10. 0 was at once collected and handed to Mr Epstein for the purpose. A note of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
