Special meeting Hobart Hebrew Congregation held in Vestry room Oct 16th 1910.

Present
Mr S. Benjamin, President in the chair
Misters S. Benjamin, J Glasser, M Epstein, J Levy, N H Levi, M Levi, P Glasser, M Benjamin, & D Nathan.


To consider the advisability of altering the reading of the law.

Proposed by Mr Nathan seconded by Mr J Levy, that the reading of the law be read, extending over a period of three years, beginning on Genesis, & reading one third of the Sedra, set for each Sabbath & commencing the second year, from where left off previous year & so on until the Torah is completed in the third year – carried unanimously. Mr N H Levi moved and Mr J Levy seconded that the Minister be requested to take a part from each portion read from Torah, and explain to the Congregation every Sabbath – carried.

It was suggested by Mr J Glasser that the Minister be requested to give the Congregation ample time to read the Shemoneh Esrey.

Mr J Levy also mentioned that the singing could be much improved if the Congregation took their lead from the Minister. Mr J Levy moved, Mr N H Levi seconded a vote of thanks to the chair.

The meeting then closed, read and confirmed at the Annual Philanthropic Society Meeting held at Synagogue Chambers, Argyle St on January 8th 1911.
