Special General Meeting of the Hobart Hebrew Congregation held at 299 Macquarie St., Hobart on August 10th, 1920

Present
Mr B. Harris (chair), Mr J. Glasser (Vice), Mr D. Mendes, M. Davis, J. Levy and the Hon Sec Nat Edwards


It was reported by the Hon Sec that he read in the daily paper that the trustee, Mr S. Benjamin had offered to the City Council the disused burying ground in Harrington Street for a children’s playground.

It was proposed by Mr J. Levy and seconded by D. Mendes that the action of the Trustees in offering to the Council and the terms specified by approved of.

After considerable discussion the discussion was adjourned sine die.

Proposed by J. Benjamin, seconded by B. Harris and carried unanimously that the action of the Hon Sec in writing to the City Council re the disused burying ground in Harrington Street be confirmed.

It was reported by the Hon Sec that applications had been received from Mr Weingott (???) of Sydney and Mr Leafman (???) of Melbourne for their respective wives to be admitted to the Jewish faith. It was resolved that the matter be left in the hands of the Hon Sec to complete the arrangements subject to the references being considered by him to be satisfactory.

Read and confirmed at a general meeting held on May 8th, 1921.
